M-2029 TapTalk Communications Software

Communications Software For Use With Legacy Models of Digital Tapchanger Controls

Not for use with M-2001C or M-2001B Models!
See M-2029A for current information.

Using a PC, with M-2029 TapTalkŪ Communications Software installed, the operator has real-time, remote access to all functions of the M-2001 Series Digital Tapchanger Control. The control can act as the monitoring point for voltage, current and related power quantities, thereby simplifying operation while avoiding transducers and multiple Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) analog inputs.

The Protocol Implements half-duplex, two-way communications. This allows all functions, which would otherwise require the presence of an operator at the local control, to be performed remotely. The M-2029 TapTalk Communications Software provides access to the following M-2001 Series Digital Tapchanger Controls information and functions:

  • Interrogation and modification of setpoints
  • Broadcast of commands, such as tap change inhibit and voltage reduction (up to three steps), to networked controls (BECO 2200 only)
  • Recognition of alarm conditions, such as voltage extremes and excessive load
  • Selective control of Raise and Lower tap change operations
  • Reconfiguration of the control, such as a change to the demand integration time period or a selection of different alarm parameters
  • Time-stamped data logging, via TapTalk, to Excel or LotusŪ 1-2-3 compatible spreadsheet files
