Generator Protection System
Integrated Protection SystemŪ for Generators of All
Sizes
The Integrated Protection System M-3425A provides protection, control,
monitoring and user interface functions for generator protection. Stored
targets and oscillography can be IRIG-B synchronized. Dual RS-232 ports
and an RS-485 port provide user-interface communication capabilities.
The M-3820D IPScomŪ Communications Software is included for direct serial
or remote communication access. Waveform data can bedownloaded using the
M-3801D IPSplotŪ PLUS Oscillograph Analysis
Software which allows for plotting and printing of the downloaded oscillographic
data.
- Provides all major protective functions for generator protection,
including Field Ground (64F), Out-of-Step (78), and Split-Phase Differential
(50DT) and Underfrequency Time Accululation (81A)
- Expanded IPScom Communications Software provides simple and logical
setting and programming
- Simple application with Base and Comprehensive protection packages
- Options: Ethernet connection, Field Ground / Brush Lift-Off Protection
(64F/B), Sync Check (25) and 100% Stator Ground Fault Protection by
low frequency injection (64S)

The IPS
(Integrated Protection Systems) Communication Application Note contains
valuable information for anyone trying to establish serial communication
to Beckwith Electric's IPS family of generator or transformer protection
relays.
BECO2200 is just one of Beckwith Electric's serial communication protocols.
BECO2200 has been incorporated in the M-3420,
M-3520, M-3430, M-3440 and M-3310 line of protective relays. Technical
information on this protocol can be found in the BECO2200
Communication Protocol document.
Communication database information for the M-3425A can be found in
documents that support various protocols as listed in the title BECO2200
Comm. Database for M-3425A Integrated Protection System (Device I.D.
= 114).
MODBUS protocol is supported on the
M-3425A control. See the IPS
Application Note and the communication database document for more
information.
IPScom, Beckwith Electric's PC based communication software package
provides an easy to use graphical Windows interface for setting all
parameters in the Integrated Protection System relay. At this time IPScom
only supports BECO2200 protocol for communication.
