FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dr. Yalla named Executive Vice President and appointed to the Beckwith Electric Board of Directors Largo, FL - February 17, 2005 - Dr. Murty V.V.S. Yalla has been appointed Executive Vice President and is the newest member of the Board of Directors for Beckwith Electric. Dr. Yalla joined Beckwith Electric in 1989 as the vice president of research and development/engineering, where he was responsible for new product development and product maintenance of digital protection and control of power apparatus. He is a senior member of the IEEE and has been active in the IEEE Power System Relaying Committee (PSRC) for over 15 years. He is a member of several working groups in PSRC and presently chairs the Working Group that is revising the IEEE Standard C37.102 "Guide for AC Generator Protection." He co-authored an IEEE PES tutorial on the "Protection of Synchronous Generators." Dr. Yalla joins a strong team of industry leaders. Current board members include Robert W. Beckwith, CEO, Beckwith Electric Co., Inc.; Thomas R. Beckwith, President, Beckwith Electric Co., Inc.; Barbara B. Anderson; Leo J. Aubel; Gabe Cazares; Paul R. Drum; David Martinez; and Will Miller. As executive vice president, Dr. Yalla will be a member of Beckwith Electric's senior management team, advising on company policies and strategies. Dr. Yalla received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, College of Engineering, Kakinada, India in 1981; a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 1983; and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, Canada in 1987. From 1988 to 1989, Dr. Yalla taught and conducted research on digital power system protection at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Dr. Yalla has published several research papers in international journals on digital protection and holds four U.S. patents in the areas of digital controls and protective relays.
