M-2001 LTC Digital Tapchanger Control
Vacuum Fluorescent Displays

Please be advised that there exists a possibility that the vacuum fluorescent display on your M-2001 tapchanger control may experience some degradation in the brilliance of its display, making it difficult to see in direct sunlight or, over a longer period of time, the display may not be visible at all. The dimming of, or loss of, the display's readability does not, in any way, affect the operation, accuracy, or any other characteristics of the control. Only the display is affected.

Units affected:

Model: M-2001A-1, All
Model: M-2001B, with firmware version 07.09.20, or earlier

Corrective Action:

• M-2001A-1 Out of Warranty. Return for display replacement
• Or… Upgrade replacement with M-2001C at a discounted price (two models to choose from).
  • M-2001B In Warranty. Firmware upgrade by customer to version D-0067V.07.09.23 shuts off display elements after 5 minutes of non-use, effectively extending display life to more than 20 years. If the display shows some amount of dimming and has not gone completely unreadable, the firmware up-date will effectively eliminate the problem.
  • Upgrade Replacement with M-2001C - If you chose to exercise the upgrade to a M-2001C, please contact Ted Murphy at (727) 545-7664 for available options.

Return Logistics/Upgrade Firmware

If you choose to exercise the return for repair option available for the M-2001A-1 models, Beckwith Electric has a limited number of units available for temporary swap-out use while your control is being repaired.

Request a RMA Number for your return if you require replacement of the display (M-2001A-1s only). If you choose to upgrade the firmware on your own (M-2001Bs only), click here to download the necessary files. The web page contains the step-by-step procedure for completing the upgrade.

Additionally, you may contact your local representative to have him help you with the logistics of getting your controls repaired/returned or to get you lined out with the firmware upgrade.
