Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Are you an electrical engineer with broad experience in circuit design and analysis? Do you have passion and new ideas and want your voice to be heard? We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of electrical design engineers and contribute your knowledge and expertise to the design and development of the next generation of microprocessor-based protection and control devices for the safe and reliable generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power. You will have a chance to work with cutting edge technologies and highly talented individuals.


  • BSEE or MSEE and Five to ten years of work-related experience in the design of microprocessor-based protection and control devices for the electric power industry, pursuant to all applicable IEEE, ANSI, UL, IEC, EN, CSA, CE or other international test standards, and electric power industry requirements.
  • Multiple disciplinary background in the real-world application of power system theory, the latest microprocessor architecture with communications, familiarity with the necessary applied mathematics and programming languages focused on the design of protection and control devices for the electric power industry.
  • Knowledge of the design requirements imposed by IEEE, IEC and other international standards for Dielectric Withstand, Impulse Voltage, Insulation Resistance, Surge Withstand Capability, 1 MHz Oscillatory Immunity, Electrostatic Discharge Test, Radiated Field Immunity, Fast Transient Disturbance Test, Surge Immunity, Voltage Interruption Immunity, and Output Contact Rating.
  • Broad background in complete product development cycle including: project documentation, analog and digital circuits design, board layout, design verification and analysis for safety and reliability, experience with signal and power integrity, proficient in use of simulation and modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Provide technical support for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Translate conceptual design into a production-ready detailed design, including complete bills of materials, electrical schematics and PCB layout drawings.
  • Proficient in Altium Designer software as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Troubleshoot, improve and optimize designs from prototypes to matured products.
  • Create test cases and support lab engineers during product validation phase.
  • Design, test and improve products to meet IEEE, ANSI, UL, IEC, EN, CSA, CE or other international test standards, and electric power industry requirements.
  • Support any beta-site/outside test programs as needed.
  • Monitors efforts in the building of prototypes.
  • Participates in the Design Review Board Functional Specifications.


  • Familiarity with industrial electronics and power systems.
  • Experience with microprocessors, FPGAs, VHDL, DDR and flash memories.
  • Background in I2C, SPI, RS232, USB and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Experience in embedded C or C++ for board bring-up.
