Handheld Infarred Field Communications Device for local communications
that include configuration, settings and data download
The M-2980 CAMP™ Remote Capacitor Bank Control provides a remote communications
interface for the M-2501B Autodaptive® Capacitor Control. The M-2980 provides
remote capacitor control, system data monitoring, alarms and failure polling
of remote capacitor banks from an RTU or Scada Master running DNP3.0.
Interface
Physical
The M-2980 includes four female meter blade receptacles in an industry
standard 100 Amp class meter socket to accept the four meter blades from
the M-2501B control. A 5th stab is utilized when the unbalance neutral
detection is required. This meter blade receptacles are located inside
a NEMA 4X rated weatherproof enclosure that houses the wireless device,
as well as power supply and interface circuitry.
Infrared
The IR link from the M-2980 to the M-2501B control consists of an internally
routed optical path. The M-2501B contains an IR port exiting the back
of the control through the mounting base, in addition to the traditional
IR port exiting the bottom of the control through the Lexan™ cover. The
rear IR port communicates with the wireless device using an IR port mounted
to the rear of the enclosure.
Antenna
The M-2980 antennas are matched to the specific wireless device that the
unit is equipped with.
Power
The M-2980 and the attached M-2501B are powered by the VT provided with
the switched capacitor bank. The power supply for the radio can be configured
for either 12 V or 5 V at 10W and is provided with a 2.0 Amp, fast-acting
3 AG type fuse. The M-2501B Capacitor Control possesses an internal fuse
independent of the M-2980.
Neutral Current Unbalance Detection (Optional)
An optional Neutral Current Transformer can be installed around the neutral
lead of the capacitor bank. It is sized to handle any expected imbalanced
currents without saturation. The CT for Neutral Current detection input
allows for the following options:
- 100:5 Amp CT
- 100:1 Amp CT
- 100 Amps to 0.333 V ac
- The CTs can be either split-core or solid-core
- CT can be either wired into the terminal board or to 5th stab of meter
base
