Synchronizing & Multiplexing Solutions
- Direct upgrade/replacement using custom synchronizing panels
- Engineered upgrades of legacy synchronizing systems using automatic
synchronizing relays
- Engineered upgrades of synchronizing systems using utility-grade PLCs
for multiplexing multiple generators
Synchronizing systems are designed
to provide both a manual and an automatic synchronizing function for one
generator or multiple generator breakers. Control switches in the front
panel provide for manual raising and lowering of both speed and voltage
of the generator in order to match the bus frequency and voltage prior
to synchronizing. Digital frequency meters and volt-meters provide both
generator and bus measurements. An operator is assisted during manual
synchronizing by both a synchroscope and synchronizing lights. Synchronizing
Systems typically include: a Generator Control Unit that automatically
matches generator frequency and voltage levels to those of the bus; a
Syncrocloser Unit that sends the closing command to the breaker at the
precise moment of phase coincident; and a Syncrocloser Check relay that
provides a permissive function, verifying that voltage and phase angle
conditions are within preset limits before allowing the breaker to close.
