"This
coaster uses the central portion of a painting which I made in 1988.
This painting was based on a black and white photograph taken in about
1900. The painting shows Grandma Ora Merrell and Aunt Emily Merrell
on the back porch of the Merrell farmhouse. This house was located near
Kent, Ohio and was across the farmland from the house where I was born
and raised. My Grandfather, Wallace Merrell, and his brother, Uncle
Earl Merrell, married sisters Ora Barber and Emily Barber. The little
girl was a neighbor. I believe that her name was Charlotte Weaver."—
